paperback release in April 2010

According to Amazon.ca, the paperback version comes out on April 1st, 2010.

So ...if Stephenie plans to be working on the next book "in a year or so", maybe that means the extra chapter in The Host will be a sneak preview of the next book?!

That makes sense to me. I've seen authors do sneak previews of a chapter from the next book before, but I can't think of examples where they included deleted material from that same book in a new edition of it. They usually say that everything that is deleted is done so for a reason, whether it wasn't up to their writing standards, or it was unnecessary and broke the story's momentum, or whatever. So, it probably is a sneak peek at a little bit from the next book in the series. Can you imagine how minutely we'll be dissecting it when she throws us a bone like this? :-) Can't wait.

I agree! Anytime Stephenie's had outtakes she's posted them on her website. And with the New Moon paperback, she added the Eclipse Chapter 1 at the end of the book. Sooo I'm hoping it's the same pattern and that it's the sequels Chapter 1.

Oh yes, I know I'll be dissecting the whole new chapter with a magnifying glass. I'll probably read it 20 times over.

I don't know. I remember Wanderer's nickname Rides the Beast, but was there actually being a "claw beast"?

Hmm. That is true...maybe that's the name of one of the species, although I don't remember it so if it was, it might have been mentioned ONCE ...which I guess is enough to warrant a tag? o_O

I don't remember. I'd have to skim through to the end and see if she mentions it in her story. Wanderer had a lot of stories.

Yeah and with the tags, I love how Uncle Jeb is tagged first, but Wanderer, Jared, Ian, Jamie..none of those names are tagged.

I think it is, but this is probably just another edition. I have the first paperback version of New Moon, but there are a couple editions with extras (posters, ect). None though with extra chapters that I remember - The Host is the first!!!

I have yet to see it in paperback, only in hardcover, so I don't think it's out yet...

weird, in England the only version out is paperback. Its a shame i'll miss out on the extra chapter :(

REALLY? It's so weird, I've NEVER seen it in paperback, so I assumed that it wasn't released yet.

PS. Don't worry. I'm sure that whatever extras are included will be posted either here or somewhere ;)

Maybe in the US they only printed Hardcover and overseas Paperback for the most part.

There's a couple paperback versions of Twilight and New Moon with extras (posters, cards, ect). SO I guess this will be another edition of The Host but instead of a poster - an extra Chapter...hopefully Chapter 1 of the sequel (crosses fingers).
